Orange County Firefighters Battle Duplex Fire Leaving a Family of 9 Homeless
 

Orange County, Fl., Orange County Firefighters are on the scene of a duplex fire at 2288 Okada Ct. in the Hiawassee Highlands Subdivision.

Fire crews arrived on the scene within 5 minutes from being dispatched.  Upon arrival, crews found a single story residential concrete structure that was 50 % involved with fire.  A family of nine had self evacuated safely from the home.

The fire was extinguished in 20 minutes without injury to any civilians or firefighters. The Red Cross was requested to respond to assist 4 adults and 5 children with shelter for the night.

The Orange County Sheriff's Office and the State Fire Marshal will investigate the fire due to reports of suspicious activity.

Orange County Firefighters will remain on the scene throughout the evening to ensure that any hotspots do not flare-up.
