Econlockhatchee Trail
Background

The need for expansion of Econlockhatchee Trail was recognized a number of years ago in the Orange County Transportation Planning Process. Due to continuing development in the East Orange County area there is not only a need to improve this facility to better serve local and regional traffic demands, but it is also a necessity to finalize the location of additional roadway and stormwater retention areas required for the proposed facility. It is important to accomplish these tasks as early as possible in order to help control future developments, traffic patterns and land acquisition costs. The main objective of this project is to improve traffic operations and drainage conditions in the immediate area as well as providing much needed pedestrian and bicycle facilities.

The purpose of this Roadway Conceptual Analysis (RCA) is to confirm the need for improvements and determine the most feasible alternatives. This RCA will develop several possible alternatives and evaluate the impacts on the community and the environment. This RCA will also inform the public on the status and progress of the study through a public involvement program. It provides a forum for public input to the decision making process through public meetings, public hearings and small group meetings.
