The Orange County Traffic Engineering Division has a program to educate drivers on their speed as they travel residential neighborhoods. Orange County will privide, free of charge, the use of a speed trailer or a portable radar unit that can be placed throughout your neighborhoods.

The Portable Radar Unit is available for use by citizens, schools and homeowner associations. The equipment is loaned to you, set up safely along the residential street, and shows passing drivers their speeds as they drive by. The Portable Radar Unit can be moved to different locations throughout the neighborhood. By having the Portable Radar Unit in different locations, you will be able to reinforce the residential speed limits. More information is available by clicking the Neighborhood Speed Monitoring Fact Sheet listed at right.

The Speed Trailer is a stationary radar unit that can be used in residential neighborhoods as well as roadways that have higher speed limits. This will remind drivers to stay within the proper speeds.
