In 1936, the Board of County Commissioners voted to establish medical care services and employed a fulltime "County Physician" who provided the majority of medical care to County residents. Initially, most of the medical care was provided by the County Physician, riding on horseback, to patients' homes throughout the County. After a few years it was determined that a more effective use of the physician's time would be to establish a clinic and have patients visit him.
In 1967, a new facility was constructed exclusively for the Medical Clinic at 89 West Copeland Drive. At this facility, the Medical clinic provided patient care for 25 years. In 1993, the Medical Clinic moved to its current facility at 101 South Westmoreland Drive. |
