The Study, commonly called the "Innovation Way Study", will establish guiding policies to determine where growth may occur, determine the appropriate environmental controls warranted for these areas, and to ensure that high-tech industries are encouraged for sustainable economic development. The overall intent of the study is to strike a balance between the need and obligation to protect the area's environmental resources and to provide opportunities for sustainable economic development. Some of the major elements will include framework policies to address the following:
- Develop a long-range conceptual framework map for southeast Orange County
- Address smart economic development through the creation of new high value jobs
- Protect the sensitive environment
- Partner with transportation authorities to control where growth occurs
