How do I make a records request?
A request should be submitted, in writing, to:

The request should include the street address of the property or the permit number; the year the property was built, if known; the specific type of record or information you wish to review; the tax or parcel identification number of the property for records prior to 1987 (this number always has15 digits); whether the property is residential or commercial; and your name, address, and telephone number.
What are the fees associated with record requests?
There is a $40 per hour research and retrieval fee associated with your request as established in the Orange County Fee Directory. This charge applies regardless of whether any records are located or are of any relevance to you after you have received and reviewed them.
Other fees associated with records requests are:
- Informational letters----$15
- Copying of any instrument by photographic means
Up to 8 1/2" x 14" per page----------$1 Larger than 8 1/2" x 14" per page----$3
- Copy fee for official records
One-sided, per page----$.15 Two-sided, per page----$.20
- Certifying a copy of any external instrument
Each instrument--------$1
Please do not pay fees in advance of receipt of records.
