Parents Who Host Lose the Most
horizontalbar

This campaign focuses on parents and educating them about the legal ramifications and health and safety risks of serving alcohol to teens. As a parent you should know it is illegal to give alcohol to your teen's friends under the age of 21 under any circumstance, even in your own home, even with their parents permission. If you break the law you could face the following:

  • Second degree misdemeanor
  • Others can sue you if you give alcohol to anyone under the age of 21 and they in turn, hurt someone, hurt themselves or damage property

To alliveate this issue, be at home when your teen has a party, Make sure alcohol is not available and make sure alcohol is not brought into your home.

Parents Who Host Lose the Most (PDF - 395 KB) is a campaign developed by the Drug-Free Action Alliance and has been replicated in 42 states and Canada. The campaign has also received the CSAP Promising Prevention Program Award.  For more information see the Drug-Free Action Alliance.

horizontalbar

This is the seventh year the Orange County Drug Free Coalition and the Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco (AB&T), and law enforcement agencies have teamed up to reduce underage drinking. The partners inlcuded the Office of Public Safety, Orange County Sheriff's Office, Orlando Police Department, Winter Park Police Department and Maitland Police Department.

These agencies conducted a two-day sweep completing 134 complaince checks and made 28 arrest resulting in a 21% non-complaince in Orange County.

The Office for a Drug Free Community and AB&T have parterned to encourage retail business owners to keep our underage youth alcohol-free by providing businesses with notice (PDF - 461 KB) signs displaying the Florida State Statue. By posting these notice signs, underage people will know businesses are serious about preventing the illegal sale of alcohol.

If you know of a business selling alcohol to minors or is in need of ID training, please contact the Florida Divison of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco at 407-245-0780, or Orange County Office for a Drug Free Community at 407-836-7335.

Social Norms College Campaign
horizontalbar

The Orange County Drug Free Coaliton is working with UCF, Rollins and Full Sail on the Social Norms College Campaign. The goals of this project is to provide awareness and education to higher education institutions campuses through the Residential Assistant Alcohol Education Bulletin Board Kits and B.A.C. cards. The project will provide education on the facts about alcohol while dispelling the misperception that the majority of students engage in high-risk behaviors. This message will reach students through a variety of modes:

  • Residential Assistant (RA) Kits
  • Blood Alcohol Concentration Card (B.A.C.)
  • Billboards
  • Radio

This project will not only enhance the alcohol education currently being received on campuses, but also provide students with another advocate for their health and safety, the Residental Assistant. These types of initiatives are critical in reaching the Coalition's underage population with the facts and consequeces of alcohol while providing them with the necessary resources to make positive healthy choices. This not only benefits the school campuses, but the community as a whole.

Social Norms billboard and radio campaign "Did you Know" (PDF - 157 KB) College Students Do More Than You Think" focuses on the positive actions by our college students.
