Job Openings / Guidelines Orange County Government is committed to providing equal opportunity in employment and services to all individuals. Orange County prefers on-line job applications for the majority of our current openings. Exceptions will be noted in the posting. A County application is required, and all qualifying information must appear on the application. Information from a resume will not be used to determine if minimum qualifications are met. A resume in lieu of an application will not be accepted. Gather together all your education and employment history before beginning the on-line application. Determine the position you want to apply for based on your ability to meet the job requirements. You must submit a separate application for each position you are interested in. If the position you are applying for requires a typing or math test, you must have a test score meeting the minimum requirements on file prior to the position closing. You must provide photo identification in order to sit for the test. An applicant must have applied for a vacant position or have an active record in order to be eligible to take a typing/data entry test. Computer test scores are valid for one year and an applicant can retest every thirty days. The most recent test score is used for consideration. If you have ever plead No Contest to, or been convicted of, a First Degree Misdemeanor or any Felony you must explain fully and give dates. A conviction will not necessarily bar you from employment, but will be weighed with respect to time, circumstances, seriousness, and the position for which you have applied. If you are selected for hire, you will be asked to provide copies of all required documents, diplomas, degrees, certifications and licenses. An education diploma/degree issued outside the United States or US territories must be evaluated for a determination of United States equivalency by a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluations Services (NACES) at your expense. If you claim Veterans' Preference you will be required to provide documentation of your eligibility within 3 days of application. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical, including a drug screening is a mandatory condition of employment with Orange County. A positively confirmed drug test or the refusal to submit to a drug test will result in the conditional offer of employment being withdrawn and will render the applicant ineligible for County employment for twelve calendar months from the date of the positive drug test. Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment background check is a condition of employment with Orange County. Applicants selected for hire will be asked to provide specific information and documentation, which will be utilized to conduct a thorough background investigation. Males seeking employment with Orange County, who are required to register with the Selective Service System under the Military Selective Service Act, and who have received a conditional offer of employment must submit documentation of registration with the Selective Service System (or an exception from registration) before the employment offer is finalized. New employees must sign up for direct deposit of County issued payroll checks within the first pay period after their first day of work.
