Placement

The Intake Unit interviews non-violent offenders for placement in the Center. The screening includes a review of the inmates's criminal history, physical and mental health, substance abuse, employment, and educational history. The majority of inmates in the Orange County Work Release Center are placed at the Judge's recommendation. In all cases, the intake staff screens each inmate to determine the likelihood of the offender's successful participation in the program.

The Process

The Vocational Placement staff assists Work Release Inmates in developing job skills and provides screening, job referrals, and on-site job monitoring at no cost to employers. After inmates complete the orientation process, they are required to maintain full-time employment, if not participating in a inmate worker program.

Partnerships are established with employers in the community to promote success. The Work Release Inmates are ideal employees because they are alcohol-drug free and can work all shifts. The Work Release Center offers a diverse workforce with many skilled and trained professionals.
